ENTERAL PUMPS
Sherwood Kangaroo pumps are general-purpose pole-mounted home and hospital enteral pumps, simple to operate and generally inexpensive, with impact-resistant plastic housings. All are Rotary Peristaltic operation, with ± 10% rate accuracy and Optical Drop Detection. All Sherwood Feeding Pump Administration sets can be used with each pump; Med Spec and Ross enteral sets can be used ONLY with 22, 220, and 330 pumps. Newer Sherwood models (224, 324, and PET) employ a hall-effect sensor which will only detect an installed set if a Sherwood set with magnet is used.
Kangaroo 22
Now discontinued, the Kangaroo 22 is still in use as an ambulatory enteral pump because of its unique cigarette-lighter adapter that allows it to be used during transit by automobile.

Sherwood Kangaroo 220 and Kangaroo 330 Enteral Pumps
Kangaroo 220 and Kangaroo 330
The Kangaroo 220 and 330, though discontinued, are still popular because of their ease of operation and simplicity. Very similar in operation, except the 330 gives a volume delivered readout, and instead of the thumbwheel operation of the 220, has a digital LED readout and pushbutton operation. Most of the 220's have a detachable pole clamp and power cord/transformer, while the 330's have an integral pole clamp and connected AC cable with the transformer inside the housing. Both can use generic enteral administration sets as well as Sherwood sets.

Kangaroo 224 and 324

Both the Kangaroo 224 and 324 require Sherwood administrations sets. Each contains a hall-effect switch in the tubing channel which senses the presence of a magnetic disc on the Sherwood administration set. Sets made by other manufacturers will not work in these models or in the newer Sherwood Pets.
The Kangaroo 224 is a very simple and uncomplicated pump; there are only three control buttons, ON, OFF, and START/HOLD, and a knob on the side of the unit which sets the rate. There is no dose function or volume delivered readout, and the pump delivers until the enteral bag is empty. No memory function.

Kangaroo 324
The Sherwood Kangaroo 324 is a pole-mounted pump that includes a dose limit function, touch panel input for rate and dose, and a volume delivered readout. Like the 224 and Pet, it requires Sherwood administration sets to operate. Detachable AC cord. Later versions (Serial number T9222417 and higher) have a 24-hour memory.

Kangaroo PET (2100)
Features: Ambulatory Enteral pump, comes with carry frame and backpack, or can be pole-mounted using integral pole clamp on detachable charger unit; can be programmed for Intermittent or Continuous Delivery; Programmable Dose Limit (1-75 ml in 1 ml increments, 75-2000 ml in 5 ml increments); Volume delivered readout; LED display and touch panel data entry; a large number of sets can be used to fit the frame for ambulatory operation (see attached list). Optional charging cord (# 350490) can be used to connect the pump to the charger while the pump is mounted in the ambulatory frame unit. |
