Medfusion Ambulatory Infusion Pumps

Medfusion manufactures a line of lightweight ambulatory infusion devices known as the WalkMed series, along with a larger but still ambulatory series of pumps, the Medfusion 2001 and 2010. WalkMeds are small, square devices which utilize linear peristaltic operation and run on a single 9-volt battery. They carry a small 65ml reservoir in the back cover of the pump for infusion of minimal volumes. Larger volumes can be infused using the 150 or 250 ml reservoirs, carried in the optional 250 ml pouch. The WalkMeds require either the standard set MFPS-400/300 with any M/F extension set, or the PS-360, which includes a 60" extension set. The SP-6 Spike Set can also be used for larger infusions in conjunction with a medication container with spike input.

The popular and easy-to-program Medfusion InfuMed 300 pump has been discontinued (parts and service support are no longer offered) and replaced with the WalkMed 350. Both offer continuous infusion, with the 300 programming in tenths of a ml, the 350 in tenths or hundredths of a ml.

The 400 series of WalkMeds are specialized pumps, each one having a therapy focus: the 410 is continuous only, the 420 I/C offers continuous and intermittent infusion, the 430 PCA and WalkMed PCA have continuous and PCA infusion, and the 440 PIC (replacing the discontinued WalkMed 400) performs continuous, intermittent, and PCA.

All the WalkMeds have an accuracy of ± 5 %.The Medfusion 2001 and 2010 are syringe pumps which can utilize almost any commercially-available syringe and syringe size. They can be used as stationary pole-mounted devices or as ambulatory units. Both run on rechargeable internal batteries and are recharged by an external AC adapter. The 2001 and 2010 both have an accuracy of ± 3 %, not counting syringe variance.
