Sims Deltec (Pharmacia) Ambulatory Infusion Devices

Administration Sets and Accessories

Left to Right: CADD-1 (5100), CADD PCA II (5800), CADD+ (5400)

Sims Deltec CADD-1 (5100)

The Sims Deltec CADD 1 pump delivers in mls per 24 hours instead of the usual ml/hour of the other CADD models, but can also deliver 90 ml/hour in the fixed high-flow mode. It can be used for any continuous therapy, and is often recommended for chemotherapy treatment.

Delivery Modes: Continuous

Rate Parameters: 0-299 mL/24 hrs, or 90 mL/hr in fixed high-flow mode

Accuracy: ± 6 %

Hi-Pressure Alarm: 16-40 PSI

CADD+ (5400)

The Sims Deltec CADD+ pump delivers in two modes, either continuous or intermittent. Because of its intermittent capability, it is often recommended for the delivery of antibiotics, which requires a delivery period followed by a KVO (Keep Vein Open) rest period, and then repeats the same program a number of times. The CADD + can also be use in the continuous mode, delivering up to 75 mls/hour. There is no screen for the entry of drug concentration on the CADD+.

Recommended Uses: Intermittent Delivery of Antibiotics, Continuous Delivery of Chemotherapy

Delivery Modes: Continuous or Intermittent

Rate Parameters: 0-75 mL/hr

Reservoir Volume: Off, 1-1500 mL

Infusion Volume: 0-150 mL

Infusion Period: 10 minutes - 12 hours

Infusion Cycle: 20 minutes - 12 hour 10 minutes or 24 hours

KVO Rate: 0-10 mL/hr

Delay Start: 10 minutes - 12 hours

Accuracy: ± 6 %

Hi-Pressure Alarm: 16-40 PSI

CADD PCA II (5800) and CADD PCA Remote (5800R)

Recommended Uses: Pain Management, any continuous infusion

Delivery Modes: Continuous Delivery, Patient or Clinician-activated Bolus;

Programmable concentration (0-95 mg/mL)

Rate Parameters: 0-20 mL/hr, or 0-99.5 mg/hr

Patient Bolus: 0-6 mL or 0-99 mg

Clinician Bolus: 0-20 mL or 99.5 mg

Accuracy: ± 6 %

Hi-Pressure Alarm: 16 - 40 PSI

Sims Deltec CADD PCA and CADD PCA Remote

Differs from the earlier (discontinued) CADD PCA (5200) in Clinician-activated bolus capability, Attempted Doses informational screen, and automatic delivery resumption after HI-P alarm when occlusion pressure is relieved (5200 required a restart after pressure alarm). The 5800R includes a remote bolus button which attaches to the side of the housing. Both are used for PCA infusion (Patient-Controlled Analgesia), which allows the patient to self-bolus as needed in addition to providing a continuous basal infusion of pain medication.
