Wound Care Therapy

Wound Care Therapy units are mattress and control module units which provide bed-ridden patients a pressure-controlled surface which promotes tissue integrity and capillary circulation, and help prevent pressure ulcers, commonly known as bed sores. Available units include the Bazooka Bed, the NatureSleep-Aire and Conforma-Aire Mattress systems, and the Aire-2000 and Aire-4000 External Air Control Units.

Note that the Bazooka Bed has been discontinued and replaced by a combination of mattress (either NatureSleep or Conforma) and controller unit (either the Aire-2000 or -4000)

Bazooka Bed System

The Bazooka Bed System consists of an external air control module (shown below) and attached, unpowered mattress which is connected to the module by three air hoses. Once the module is activated, it will fill the mattress’s ribbed compartments with air. The firmness of the mattress is controlled by a regulator knob on the module. Once the patient is situated on the mattress, the air compartments automatically compensate any patient movement by redistributing air to adjacent compartments, lowering or raising the air pressure as needed. Unlike the later NatureSleep and Conforma mattress systems, the Bazooka Bed requires both the mattress and the control module to function.
